Dr. Imac Zambrana of the Department of Special Needs Education, University of Oslo, and Dr. Coley have received a seed grant from the University of Oslo to examine how different educational approaches may shape the development of ecological thinking in children. They hypothesize that varying the specificity of instructional information might shape children’s exploration, and thereby impact their ecological thinking and behaviors, and that the role of information might vary across ecological and non-ecological contexts. Their goals are to (1) develop a methodology to investigate how pedagogical language may impact exploratory learning about ecological systems, and (2) conduct initial tests examining our hypotheses.
