At the end of last semester, we had the honour of being visited by Dr. Berri Jacque at one of our CORE Lab weekly meetings. Dr. Jacque is an Associate Professor at Tufts Medical School and the Director of the Center for Translational Science Education at Tufts University (CTSE). His scientific background is in immunology and he now builds collaborative learning communities that partner biomedical scientists and teachers to improve science education for high school students, and focus on connecting health and science. His research centers around understanding the relationship between scientific literacy, health education, and health literacy. His team is working with our very own graduate student Emily Dahlgaard Thor in a collaborative project that seeks to investigate the role of cognitive construals in high school students’ understanding of science curriculum. Stay tuned to hear more about this awesome cooperative work!
