In parallel to Northeastern University’s hybrid model in reopening campus, CORE Lab is simultaneously continuing its virtual working model from the summer while also reopening its physical lab space. This Fall semester, CORE Lab members are maintaining their regular weekly meetings and assignments virtually and upholding the great work from before the pandemic, with — a newly established! — option to work inside the lab office upon signing up in advance. CORE Lab has put together a COVID-19 policy that explains the lab’s hybrid working model and the responsible expectations required of its members, and a sign-up and check-in system that ensures members are entering the lab space under limited capacity while practicing healthy pandemic habits. The sign-up-upon-entry system adheres to the university’s restrictions in regard to building and office capacity and healthy distancing. Our hope is that this will keep CORE Lab members healthy and safe, while at the same time allowing for some of the in-person teamwork and interaction that makes the CORE Lab a special research environment. Happy Fall Term!
